The SDG Monitor’s Anniversary

A year into the SDG Monitor’s release, it is being used in over 130 countries.

Despite much effort, data on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) often remains sparse. While SDG data is primarily used to measure progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, it is also crucial for targeting investments and guiding policies. The SDG Monitor is an analytics tool developed by Christoph Gössmann from ETH Zurich’s Law, Economics, and Data Science Group (Prof. Elliott Ash) that helps to systematically identify SDG data gaps and relevant stakeholders. The SDG Monitor gives decision-makers access to highly customizable, relevant, and actionable insights on how to efficiently close those data gaps. Moreover, it guides advocacy efforts and supports the design of policy agendas, such as the Global Digital Compact.
